This is another project we did in collaboration with TC Contracting, general contractors. Stock cabinetry can be an inexpensive way to fit a kitchen, but some rooms need one or two specialty pieces which aren’t possible to source from the cabinet supplier. Careful lumber selection, fitting, and coloring can make the additions blend flawlessly with the whole. We made the shallow unit with adjustable shelving for above the bar area, and modified the wine rack (which came with those silly X-es inside) for a sleeker look – by taking it apart and rebuilding the interior according to the homeowner’s much more imaginative idea. The job also required that we build a new panel for behind the chairs — the one from the factory showed up with a rather appalling defect. We colored and finished the wood to match the rest of the cabinetry.
