Round pedestal dining table fit for a mermaid

248 custom original design hand painted scroll base beach cottage breakfast table

We had complete freedom with this small round dining table. Here it is shown at Justin and Burks a beautiful shop in a stunning old brick building in the Sellwood district of Portland, Oregon. The wood is white pine which contains some knots. The shape was designed by us and built by Buck. Ideas for the finish began when I fell in love with Farrow and Ball’s “arsenic” and had to buy a sample can. This dining table was meant to have a “washed-up-on-the-beach” look, achieved by eroding the grain, multiple layers of paint and glaze, and further erosion. Milk paint was used for the base coat and for several subsequent coats, giving the table a hard-wearing exterior.
