We received a blanket-ful of parts from our friend Martin Cross of ERA midcentury and discovered what used to be a fine dining chair, in random pieces.
Both of the back legs had been damaged; one was snapped in half at the middle.
It was impossible to repair the old broken leg and expect it to again bear weight, so it was necessary for Buck to turn two new legs on the lathe. These were then hand-shaped to fit into the existing back. Colored to match, the new legs look as if they’ve always been part of the chair.
