Our clients had us build a trestle table for their kitchen last spring and now are having us redesign their office / library. The primary objective was to increase the area available for book storage while unclogging the room’s flow, which was blocked by an inappropriately sized computer table and poor layout; and to replace some free-standing IKEA bookcases with something nicer. We have now almost doubled the square footage available for book storage while freeing up the flow of the room. The family lives in a tall Victorian in the Sellwood district which has some of its original detail and has also been extensively remodeled to suit the needs of its current family. They have two young daughters who love to snuggle in the library and read. The husband loves books, has a very nice collection, and prefers to keep some behind glass doors. This casework is built of paint grade material including MDF and poplar. Four tall and slender glass doors along an L shaped cabinet are straight and beautiful.
