We designed, built and finished this 7 foot long custom dining table with hand carved cabriole legs. We used recycled / reclaimed barn wood for the table top, and plain lumberyard 2 X 6 for the apron and cabriole legs.
All new parts have been distressed and eroded and finished to fool the eye into thinking the table is antique. No effort has been made to actually replicate an antique table. It’s more fun to design an original table with pleasing proportions that will harmonize with other antiques in the eclectic interior AND wear like iron. The finish on this one consists mainly of milk paint, which has a lovely sheen and body, and the small percentage of bare wood that currently shows is protected fully by penetrating oils. As such it is very textured on top but totally rag-wipe-able, cleanable, refuses to stain and stands up to all kinds of use by real families. Of course as with all of our other custom furniture, this can be ordered in many different options such as size, color, species, etc. With minimal design effort these tables can accept leaves, if so desired.
